“Some people see scars, and it is wounding they remember. To me they are proof of the fact that there is healing.”

~Linda Hogan

My Background

I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, but spent much of my early childhood living in many states. By the time I was not quite 6 years of age, I had already lived in Des Moines, Iowa, Kansas City, Kansas, St. Louis, Missouri, landing for several years in Stamford, Connecticut, before moving back to Cincinnati in 1976. This is where I lived throughout middle, junior and senior high school, before obtaining my Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Cincinnati.

I enjoyed Post Baccalaureate and Graduate Studies in Biochemistry, Endocrinology, and Invertebrate Zoology at the University of Cincinnati, but my studies in Graduate Literature, Shakespeare, and poetry kept me balanced (and sane!)

I earned my Doctorate Degree in Medicine at the Medical College of Ohio (now, the University of Toledo College of Medicine). At my final clinical rotation prior to graduating, I had the honor of meeting the late Archie Bedell MD, Ph.D., one of, if not the very best, clinician, diagnostician, and “old time” Family Medicine physicians that I’ve ever known. Dr. Bedell was the Residency Director for the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center Residency Program and the reason that I chose this Program for residency. What I learned from Dr. Bedell about being a physician eventually led me to open my own private concierge practice about 18 years later.

I earned Board-Certification in Family Medicine and have maintained this Board-Certification until the present day.

Area of Expertise

Residency

St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center: after completing medical school in Ohio, where Dr. Becker acquired clinical experience at three different Level I Trauma Centers. Dr. Becker attended the St. Vincent MercyMedical Center FM Residency program under the tutelage of the late Archie Bedell, MD, PhD, a pioneer in FM education and a phenomenal “old-fashioned” physician and mentor.

Benefits of Diverse Training

Training at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, a busy Level I Trauma Center with Adult & Pediatric Intensive Care Units, a Level III (the highest designation awarded) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, as well as Internal Medicine and Surgery floors, provided Dr. Becker with a rigorous and exceptional foundation of medical knowledge and medical management skills.

St. Charles Hospital, a busy hospital and also part of the Mercy Healthcare system, which served the entire community and surrounding areas, afforded Dr. Becker with a very different, yet just as crucial experience in enriching her training and medical expertise. This 390-bed, Level III Trauma Center, with maternity and women’s health centers, a comprehensive cancer center, Intensive Care Unit, and Cardiac Critical Intensive Care Unit, was managed almost entirely by the residents of the very robust Mercy program, which was instrumental in providing Dr. Becker with invaluable experience in Family & Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Critical Care, as well as in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Becker gained in-depth as well as comprehensive training in Family & Internal Medicine, with focus on adult, geriatric and preventative medicine. In-depth as well as comprehensive training: Dr. Becker’s training afforded proficiency in adult, geriatric, age-related, and preventative medicine, gaining critical experience successfully managing women’s, men’s and pediatric health issues, endocrine diseases such as pre-diabetes, fulminant diabetes, hypothyroidism, overweight, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, such as hypertension, congestive heart failure, and dysrhythmias, disorders of lipid metabolism (“high cholesterol”),  vitamin/nutritional deficiencies, such as vitamin D, B12 and other B-vitamin deficiencies, anemia, osteopenia, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, age-related issues such as polypharmacy, fall prevention, mobility loss, functional decline, incontinence and other urologic and/or gynecologic issues, as well as psychiatric health issues such as depression, anxiety, cognitive impairment, including dementia, and a vast array of other health concerns, conditions, disorders, and diseases.
